Raising a lifetime FKDR is slower than people expect, because the final deaths already on your account never go away. This works out exactly how many more final kills a target needs — at the rate you actually die, not at a hypothetical zero.

The formula
FKDR is final kills ÷ final deaths. To find the kills x needed to reach a target ratio t, given that you also gain deaths at rate r per kill, solve fk + x = t · (fd + r·x), giving x = (t·fd − fk) ÷ (1 − t·r).
That denominator is the interesting part. Once t · r ≥ 1 the target is unreachable no matter how long you play — your death rate caps the ratio you can converge on. A player dying 0.25 final deaths per final kill cannot pass 4.0 by grinding, only by dying less.
Why lifetime FKDR moves so slowly
A player with 5,000 final deaths sitting at 2.0 who suddenly starts playing at 8.0 will need roughly 3,300 more final kills just to reach 2.5. This is not a flaw in the metric; it is what a lifetime average means. It also explains why serious players judge form on a session rather than on the number in their lobby tag.

›What death rate should I enter?
Start with the inverse of the FKDR you have been playing at recently. If you have been running about 5.0 FKDR in your last few sessions, enter 0.2. Using your lifetime inverse will understate what you can do now if you have improved.
›Why does it say my target is unreachable?
Because your target FKDR multiplied by your death rate is at least 1. In that case every additional final kill brings enough additional final deaths that the ratio converges below your target. The fix is a lower death rate, not more games.
›Does this account for mode differences?
Not directly — it works on whatever totals you enter. If you want a Solo-only projection, take the final kills and final deaths from the Solo row of a profile rather than the overall row.
